【摘要】:Ameasurementofcompoststabilityisneededforseveralreasons.Itaidsinassessingwhetherthecompostingprocesshasproceededsufficientlyfartoallowthefinishedcomposttobeusedforitsintendedapplication.Adifferentcompoststabilitymayberequiredfordifferentapplicationsofthecompost.Ameasurementofcompoststabilityalsoisneededtoverifywhetheracompostingplantisprocessingthewastetopreviouslyagreedlevelsofstability.Thismeasurementisusefulinthecommissioningofcompostingplantsandtheverificationofwhetherplantoperatorsaresatisfyingpermitrequirements.Thelevelofcompoststabilityalsowillindicateitspotentialtocauseodorsifthecompostisstoredwithoutaeration,aswellastheleveltowhichithasbeenhygienizedandhowsusceptiblethecompostistorenewedbacterialandpossiblepathogenicactivity.Compoststabilityisanimportantparameterwithregardtophytotoxicityandplanttoleranceofthecompost.Thedeterminationofcompoststabilitywillallowtheselectionofwellperformingcompostingtechnologies,aswellasthesafeapplicationofcompostinitsvariousmarkets.Themethodindicatesadegreeofstability,butdoesnotnecessarilyindicatethatonelevelispreferableoveranotherlevelofstability.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthestabilityofacompostsamplebymeasuringoxygenconsumptionafterexposureofthetestcomposttoawell-stabilizedcompostundercontrolled-compostingconditionsonalaboratoryscaleinvolvingactiveaeration.Thistestmethodisdesignedtoyieldreproducibleandrepeatableresultsundercontrolledconditionsthatresembletheendoftheactivecompostingphase.Thecompostsamplesareexposedtoawell-stabilizedcompostinoculumthatispreparedfrommunicipalsolidwasteorwastesimilartothewastefromwhichthetestmaterialsarederived.Theaerobiccompostingtakesplaceinanenvironmentwheretemperature,aeration,andhumidityaremonitoredcloselyandcontrolled.1.2Thistestmethodyieldsacumulativeamountofoxygenconsumed/gofvolatilesolidsinthesamplesoverafour-dayperiod.Therateofoxygenconsumptionismonitoredaswell.1.3Thistestmethodisapplicabletodifferenttypesofcompostsamplesincludingcompostsderivedfromwastes,suchasmunicipalsolidwaste,yardwaste,source-separatedorganics,biosolids,andothertypesoforganicwastesthatdonothavetoxicitylevelsthatareinhibitorytothemicroorganismspresentinaerobiccompostingsystems.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOmethod.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninSection8.

【摘要】:Ameasurementofcompoststabilityisneededforseveralreasons.Itaidsinassessingwhetherthecompostingprocesshasproceededsufficientlyfartoallowthefinishedcomposttobeusedforitsintendedapplication.Adifferentcompoststabilitymayberequiredfordifferentapplicationsofthecompost.Ameasurementofcompoststabilityalsoisneededtoverifywhetheracompostingplantisprocessingthewastetopreviouslyagreedlevelsofstability.Thismeasurementisusefulinthecommissioningofcompostingplantsandtheverificationofwhetherplantoperatorsaresatisfyingpermitrequirements.Thelevelofcompoststabilityalsowillindicateitspotentialtocauseodorsifthecompostisstoredwithoutaeration,aswellastheleveltowhichithasbeenhygienizedandhowsusceptiblethecompostistorenewedbacterialandpossiblepathogenicactivity.Compoststabilityisanimportantparameterwithregardtophytotoxicityandplanttoleranceofthecompost.Thedeterminationofcompoststabilitywillallowtheselectionofwellperformingcompostingtechnologies,aswellasthesafeapplicationofcompostinitsvariousmarkets.Themethodindicatesadegreeofstability,butdoesnotnecessarilyindicatethatonelevelispreferableoveranotherlevelofstability.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthestabilityofacompostsamplebymeasuringoxygenconsumptionafterexposureofthetestcomposttoawell-stabilizedcompostundercontrolled-compostingconditionsonalaboratoryscaleinvolvingactiveaeration.Thistestmethodisdesignedtoyieldreproducibleandrepeatableresultsundercontrolledconditionsthatresembletheendoftheactivecompostingphase.Thecompostsamplesareexposedtoawell-stabilizedcompostinoculumthatispreparedfrommunicipalsolidwasteorwastesimilartothewastefromwhichthetestmaterialsarederived.Theaerobiccompostingtakesplaceinanenvironmentwheretemperature,aeration,andhumidityaremonitoredcloselyandcontrolled.1.2Thistestmethodyieldsacumulativeamountofoxygenconsumed/gofvolatilesolidsinthesamplesoverafour-dayperiod.Therateofoxygenconsumptionismonitoredaswell.1.3Thistestmethodisapplicabletodifferenttypesofcompostsamplesincludingcompostsderivedfromwastes,suchasmunicipalsolidwaste,yardwaste,source-separatedorganics,biosolids,andothertypesoforganicwastesthatdonothavetoxicitylevelsthatareinhibitorytothemicroorganismspresentinaerobiccompostingsystems.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOmethod.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninSection8.
